About the Author
J. A. G. ROBERTS�is a Visiting Research Fellow�in History at the University of Huddersfield. He has lectured extensively on the histories of China and Japan and has a special interest in Western perceptions of Chinese and Japanese society. Among his previous publications are Life in Early China and China Through Western Eyes.

A Superb Work/Great Read

This is the second purchase of this book. I lost the first on a flight when I left it on the plane. I thought the work was good enough to justify tracking down another copy. Only the next edition. I'm still trudging through, but it is a must read, if you are a history buff. Who knew that China had it's own version of the TEA party around the 5th Century AD.
