Unexpected twists of life

While the 1st book made me want to shake & slap every damn bigot in Sweet....this one made my heart ache and almost break for Jack and Andrew. The narrow minds that exist around them are almost too much! I love reading a book that makes me yell out loud like a crazy person. They both endure their own versions of hell even worse than that which they'd been living in, in Sweet. I forget it's just a story sometimes when I read, so as Andrew is surviving (barely) and alone, I kept praying for him. "please God, let someone who loves him find him." Thank God for Andrews love of lace panties (nuff said! sorry that little snippet relates to the 3rd book) But, anyway....The way Jack never gives up, never loses the undeniable love he has for his Andrew was my favorite part. Doesn't everyone wish they had someone who loved them like that? This book had me feeling hopeless towards the end and holding my breath.

Excellent Thought Provoking Deep Read

I am not from the south and thought this book could be enlightening. I initially bought this book because it looked funny. Even the little opening remarks by the author were humorous and told me to drink some sweet tea while reading! Boy was I wrong.
This series is not a light read at all and had me mentally drained for the week I was reading the 3 books. I couldn't sleep at night thinking about these boys and had to get up and read more. Even though I am not gay, live in the south, or a strict Christian, this story still tugs on a my emotional heart strings as a compassionate human being that cannot believe others are really treated this way by their families. This series was an exceptional read and I am glad I followed their journey until the end.

I don't know if Sara York did research on "Gay therapy" but if she did... WOW. This was such a hard story to read because I could not be believe this is what is like for some of us out there. I stayed up way too late reading this series, I literally could not put it down. I kept thinking Jack must make it through this terrible time. I cried so much because I know what is like to have a father that can not see the gift that he has been given. Excellent book series... it really put so many things into perspective for me. Just amazing!
