Pick of the litter

I use Lightroom and dutifully buy several of the books for each new iteration of that product. I have never met and have no affiliation whatsoever with the authors. I have used the D65 Lightroom workbook for Lightroom 2,3, and now 4. Most Lightroom books seem to be targeted to a particular level of user. This book does a good job of appealing to beginning, intermediate, and advanced users but seems best suited to the intermediate user with some experience in Lightroom. Specifically, their instructions seem complete and the screen shots are better than the ones often presented in this kind of book. I would have the following suggestions:
1. For the beginning Lightroom user, the combination of this book and another publication such as the always excellent Kelby book would be a very good place to begin.
2. The intermediate user with some experience in Lightroom may want to start with Chapter 15, the workflow chapter, go through the process, and refer back to appropriate earlier chapters. They have nicely referenced the locations of previous discussions of items such as metadata presets, etc.
3. For the advanced user, you know who you are and this makes an excellent reference resource.
Their discussion of the Lightroom catalog concept is the best that I have seen. The general concept descriptions in the book are concise and well written. I do best when I have several Lightroom books for reference but if I had to pick one book, this would be it.

A great guidebook for a first timer

I was new to Lightroom and I took a digital photography class in school to learn more about the software. I followed this book like a bible, since class notes or lectures weren't all that helpful. The author, Seth, does an amazing job at explaining to the reader step by step what the software does and how it does it. Lightroom is actually pretty easy to navigate through and use, thanks to Adobe! But there are some essential concepts of how Lightroom works that may seem a little complicated. The book guides you through all that without confusion. The graphics are great, the text is unambiguous. Overall, I'm glad I have this book. It taught me well.:)

A Well Written & Very Helpful Book! Step by Step with Attitude! So Many Valuable Tips and Tricks

Lightroom is not simple to configure. This is by far may favorite book for configuring the software. It's organized (like Lightroom) in modules with step by step directions. The authors have their preferred configurations but they also discuss options for each module. Massively helpful is how I describe this book. The D65 Workbook sits directly behind my desk on the shelf for quick reference. Great work!
