Something for everyone who loves watercolor

My watercolor teacher used this book for a class where we learned how to repair bad paintings, and she mentioned that "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Watercolor" was also used as the textbook for a watercolor class at a local community college. It is certainly packed with information, and I would say it would prove most useful for intermediate to advanced watercolorists. Beginners might want to start with You Can Paint Watercolors or "Watercolor Class" by Michael Crespo.
I bought this book because I wanted to learn how to create patterns with sand and cheese cloth. Both techniques can be found in the section on "Collaging & Other Unusual Techniques" by various authors. Maxine Masterfield wrote the chapters on "Painting with Sand" and "Working with Filaments and Fibers." If you like to fiddle around with unusual watercolor techniques, you might want to check out her free e-newsletter, "The Spirit of Experimental Art."
