In a class all its own

Dr. Young-Eisendrath's thesis is that ours is the first era in history when men and women en masse have the potential to have emotionally intimate, honest relationships. In the past the power in a male-female relationship was too off balance for true intimacy.
Since this potential is a recent phenomenon, very few models exist for a gender-opposite relationship based on equality. The good doctor builds such a model, based on extensive research, and it is flexible enough for all of us.

Too much jargon!

I was hoping the book would have been more reader-friendly, especially for those of us not well-versed in Jungian psychoanalysis. The jargon is nearly impossible to get through. I think I understand the main points, but I'm not finding it very helpful overall. I have a MA in English, and am a Research Associate at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, so I'm used to reading dense texts.

An Important Premise

Wow! I cannot believe this phenomenal book has only one review (so far, or right now) I ordered it after reading another title by the same author ('Resilient Spirit' - another very worthwhile book, by the way, about transforming suffering into growth & insight... and that topic applies to just about everybody on the planet, eh? After all, the very fundamental premise of Buddhism is that suffering is a cold hard fact. How we learn to deal with it, understand it, approach it, and ourselves, etc is the important work of each lifetime and yes in addition to being a Jungian analyst the author is also a follower of the Buddhist path.) Now, back to this book: I ordered it after reading 'Resilient Spirit' and by the time I had read the first 100 or so pages I wanted to share it with nearly everyone I know... I was thinking "Everyone could benefit from this!" I ended up loaning my copy to my therapist who immediately made many approving sounds about the author's premise (at least in the introduction).

Seriously, anyone who is in a relationship, married, dating, whatever, could benefit from what Ms Eisendrath shares in this book. It won't necessarily be an easy ride but it will open up some (many!) eyes and many hearts (hopefully!) with it's clear and patient wisdom. AND the amazing thing is - looking at the prices above here... one can have a copy of this for less that is cost to print the thing!

Eisendrath's basic premise in "You're Not What I Expected" starts with true gender equality which historically has not been possible until recently because of entrenched cultural attitudes and biases. Let's grow, let's evolve, let's move into the next logical phase of human development (one that is long long overdue!) by taking advantage of this historical opportunity for actual equality and real partnership with our most intimate companions. If you've read Riane Eisler's "Power of Partnership" check this book, it is sure to be of interest to you and will expand your thinking (and feeling) on a topic that it both important and "close to home."

Clearly they believed as a mere woman, I was incapable of understanding the complexities of the markets. This prompted my desire to learn, and since then I have been involved in every aspect of trading and investing for over seventeen years. Now at last, I have the luxury of time, to devote the next phase of my life to writing a series of books with one aim. To explain complex subjects and concepts surrounding the financial markets, in a clear and simple way. I actually began my professional life, as an English teacher. However, English was not my first language, having arrived in the UK from Italy at the tender age of three. At that time I spoke no English whatsoever, and my first memories are of my little village school in Scotland where I grew up, and where I learnt to read and write, chalk in hand! Very old fashioned, but what a wonderful way to learn. Since then, I have never stopped talking! - well I am Italian and as I'm sure you know, Italians ALWAYS have an opinion on EVERYTHING!! Languages must be in my blood, as I also studied French and Spanish. I've now transferred the 'teaching gene' into written form through the power of Amazon. She proffers a "clean" chart. So simple without all the myriad analyses lines and numbers generated from one simple datum....the PRICE. All you really need is price, volume, support, resistance and candlesticks (and just a mere few of those). What a pleasure looking at an uncomplicated chart. For the first time I am consistently making money as a swing trader, using 5m,15 m, 1H and 1 day time frames. The 1h and 1D are for establishing the support & resistance lines. I do the analysis and make the trade in the 15m...the 5m is used for entry/exit timing only.

However, though the text and concepts are 5 star, the small black and white charts with tiny candlesticks in two shades of grey are almost unintelligible.

Taking IBD to a higher level.

Having been a follower of Investors Business Daily, I know the importance of volume that they profess. However, I was long disappointed with their continued use of open close low high charting as I have taken time to learn candles. When I saw this book incorporated both volume and candles, I had to buy it. I was not disappointed. I have spend much money on training at the Online Trading Academy which professes supply and demand zones. It may be that I'm doing something wrong, but my success was not what I thought it should be. After reading a few chapters of Anna's book, I began to look at levels differently. I scalp futures and found I made more money doing less trades. This after reading the book once. I'm going to reread it and hopefully more will sink in.

a true gem on intermarket analysis (bought paperback even after reading it on kindle)

Big props to the author as i really enjoyed this book...to be honest it was even better than john murphy's intermarket analyis.
Very well written, and by that I mean that everything is explained with a degree of simplicity leaving out the majority of unnecessary information thats useless for trading. Reading this with prior experience in the field allows u to appreciate it even more.
its important to understand that this in not a trading system....but more importantly its an "approach" to how to analyze, prepare and overall read the market.
the burden of turning this analysis into money will always lie on each individual trader and their specific trading approach.
(im new to the volume analysis stuff...but has been a useful tool for me with very short term trading)
